Sep. 16th, 2004 01:18 pmI was a 'good' Jew today. I'm anti-synogouge, it's true. I don't like going there, even though many of my childhood memories take place in that building. It was so weird going in and seeing complete strangers. Even weirder that Tali wasn't there (she's in Israel for six months). It made me realize just how much I miss her.
I brought Bridget Jones's Diary with me to reread during the service. Mum really dislikes going because our Rabbi is so boring and we left early. During one of the serious silent prayers I read a very funny part and began laughing quietly. She turned to me and said, "This is a serious prayer. You aren't supposed to laugh!" I answered her by pointing to the passage I had just read and made her read it. She laughed, too. In your face Momma.
Now we're preparing for our various luncheons and dinners we'll be having this long weekend. It will be fun and filled with very good food. Jewish holidays are excuses to eat lots of food and get drunk. Seriously, Passover has a four drink minimum. And don't even get me started on Purim! (hehe!)
