Nov. 5th, 2006 09:06 pmFriday started out okay. The middle was pretty shitty and I almost broke down crying at Penn Station because everything that day had gone wrong and I was overwhelmed. Bad things kept happening until I got on the train to Lancaster. By the time I arrived at F&M I was much better and happier. I met up with
sneeze042 first and she took me into their living room type area of the dorm that they call the 'seminar room'. We watched "Ugly Betty" and unwound. Cara came to meet up with us for a while but left when Ben, her boyfriend, showed up. This past weekend was their two year anniversary. Louise and I went to dinner and Cara and Ben joined us-- it was a mini-reunion.
Eventually Cara and I got my stuff to her dorm (where I was sleeping) and I got to meet/remeet some of her friends. It was weird to me because she knows everyone on her floor it seems and I barely know anyone on mine. She knows her whole building, really. It was nice to be at what I call a "real college". We went to their production of the "Rocky Horror Show," which was FANTASTIC! The costumes/set/actors/everything was/were great! I loved it so very much and desperately wish Pratt had a theatre group. Unfortunately, none of us have any time to do extracurriculars anyway. Gah!
Later Cara took me to my first frat party ever. I've never gone to the ones at Pratt because you usually have to pay to get in and it's just not worth it. The one she took me to had dancing so that's what we did for an hour or so before leaving. It was crowded with drunk people, many were smoking. A couple that were making out furiously kept pushing into me for some weird reason. I guess the guy was so absorbed in what was going on he didn't realize he was essentially stepping on me. Asshole. They also only had beer, jungle juice and soco. Yeah, I don't drink. Neither does Cara. So we all danced. It was an experience. I don't know if I'll go to another one, though. Maybe to the art kids party...I was invited to it (sort of) but we didn't go. Instead we went back to the dorm.
It was really cool to just hang out in their lounge and talk to random people who walked in and out. We played cards, made fun of the people who were totally wasted, that sort of thing. I think that was one of my favourite parts of the evening.. No, wait. My favourite was when we hung out in this girl Meagan's room until about 4:30 AM. A bunch of us were just sitting there, talking. I didn't even really know these people and they were so easy to get along with. Cara and I didn't get to bed until maybe an hour later.
I went home, too. Visited the parents but mostly friends. A lot of people came home this weekend. A few were able to get to my house and we hung out and talked about random stuff before retiring to the den to talk about more random stuff while watching "Hercules" because we could. We made double entendres with "GPA" and "Extracurriculars" because we are awesome like that. Yeah, sounds weird and immature but that's what we are.
Today Mum drove Bri and me to Great Neck where we saw my Great Aunt May. Uncle Lloyd passed away last Tuesday and we were there for the shiva. I am so glad we went because I haven't seen her in ages and the only people who seemed to be there were there for Lloyd's kids more than for her. We were the only people on her side of the family there that day. She seemed okay but obviously still upset. She's an extremely strong woman, I think she'll be fine.
Despite the evilNess of Friday, this weekend was great and definitely worth it.
