ETA: In which Adri writes down her thought process...
Okay, I've chosen four bits of Beatles songs that I think could go somewhere.
Eleanor Rigby (this one is kind of obvious): "Lives in a Dream" and "Wearing a face that she keeps in a jar by the door, who is it for?" are good lines.
My interpretation of this was always pretty basic. The story is about a woman who hides her loneliness behind a smile (the face she keeps by the door and only dons when she goes out). Living in a dream is going through the motions as if in a dream. Reality is too hard to face so she ignores its existence. This could be a series of political posters. Perhaps on our current economic crisis. Living in a dream, ignoring the world crashing around you. It's credible and it works but it's kind of dull.
The face thing could be about beauty standards that women face. It could also be posters. In fact, both of these seem like they'd be posters, which I kind of don't want to do. I think I'd rather do t-shirts, which would not work as well.
Being for the Benefit of Mr. Kite!: "In this way Mr. K will challenge the world!" Specifically the "challenge the world" bit.
Also political. Could be t-shirts, though. Protest shirts. I would think I could also do an After Effects video with it. Challenging the world to fight global warming, challenge it to not be shit at foreign policy, challenge it to do anything. It makes me think of those commercials they have on Hulu with the girl lying on her bed and then you see these images of the world (garbage dumps, deforested areas, etc) and she asks if this is the world you wanted for her. So that's also a distinct possibility. I still think I'm not thinking outside the box enough.
Old Brown Shoe: "I'm changing faster than the weather"
My friend suggested this could be about climate change. That is perfectly fine but very obvious. I usually don't mind obvious but I think he wants us to dig deeper. Changing faster than the weather can also be attributed to other things, like fads are changing faster than the weather, our economy is changing faster than the weather, our life as we know it is changing. All of my ideas seem to lead back to politics at the moment. I don't think I want to do that. Maybe endangered animals? No, way too in the box...
Personality changes? Erm...fads seems to work. Fads change so quickly, impossible to keep up with them unless wealthy, don't waste money on being fashionable because we're in a f-ing economic crisis...gah, it's still coming back there. I need to stop reading political blogs.
Okay, so getting pretty much nowhere with that one.
A Day In the Life: "And somebody spoke and I went into a dream"
Pretty much I just love dreams. Mine are sometimes very vivid and very weird. Once in a while I'll remember a dream I had a while ago because someone brings something up that was in it. Even if they don't have any real meaning, that won't stop me from attempting to interpret them. I would love to do a series of shirts about dreams. Not sure if I want them to be just mine or if I want to do a collaborative piece (gotta say I love collabs!) where i get a few friends to quickly illustrate a dream that has stayed with them. Maybe not shirts then, but a book. A book of dreams. This is actually sounding kind of cool. But I'm not sure if he wants something that's more commercial than that. So far this is my favorite idea, though.
