I got back from California last night. It was really fun. But by going to the West Coast I realized that I'm more of an East Coast kind of girl. Our cities may be dirtier than California's but, dammit, they don't all close down so early in the evening and they aren't as spread out. Plus, our public transportation is kickass compared to California's basically nonexistant one. Well, that's what I've noticed, anyway.

So the first two days were spent in Anaheim. I want to work at Disney Land. Seriously. It would be so much fun! After talking to the people who worked there it just seems like a good idea. The little detail of it being in CA and me being in PA...well, that can totally be worked out. We mainly went to the random shows they were putting on all over the park and were very selective about rides. For instance, no space mountain, no matterhorn, etc. Yes Indianna Jones. Yes haunted house.

The best and most memorable parts were the Fantasmic (I'm not sure if that's the right name) show where we see Mickey's imagination at work before the show gets hijacked by Malificent and then Mickey kicks her dragon-changin' ass. The dude who worked the section I was in let me stand closer to the action. His name is Matt. Matt was cool because he talked to me during the show a bit and knew the lines by heart since he'd seen it so often. Very funny to watch. Plus, the show was fantabulous. They had light stuff that was crazy awesome and the fountain was spraying water in such a way that it became a screen for the clips of movies they played. And the Pirate ship came out and Peter Pan was fighting Hook. I can't really describe it. It was just so incredible.

Now we get to the fireworks at Disney. Dad and I stayed late especially to see them, striking up conversations with people who worked there while we waited for the show to start. Jessica, the one who we talked the most with, was very enthusiastic when I asked her how she liked working in the park. She loves it and is going to school for animation, I guess so she can draw for Disney later. But the fireworks. They were amazing! There was a sort of plot to the entire show. They had different "themes" and the music and fireworks corresponded to each. Even Tinkerbell showed up (as a lady hanging from a wire in the dress). They lit the castle different ways, too, depending on the theme. Verreh cool.

And that was Disney.

The rest of the trip was pretty uneventful. We checked out three different studios (Paramount, NBC and WB). Paramount was pretty neat. We got to see the editting room for The Insider and talked to the director. He's a cool guy. Very nice people. NBC was rather boring. They talked about Jay Leno and Days of Our Lives. That was pretty much it. WB was the best. We got to see two sound stages, saw the square from Gilmore Girls, random props, etc. In the props building (which was very nice) they had a room dressed like Central Perk from Friends. It was done up because Jay Leno wanted to do an interview with the cast after the show had finished in the "coffee house". So they made a room for it. Dad and I got a picture of us on the couch. Will post pictures later. And I saw the Batmobile. I asked if I could have it, too. The tour guide said yes but she was most likely joking.

What else did we do? We went to Sunset Blvd, Rodeo Drive, etc. Walked around the San Diego Zoo. Checked out shops near the hotel. Got chocolate. Saw Jimmy Kimmel Live being taped. It was surprisingly boring other than the dude who was trying to get you hyped for the show. Magic Johnson is actually pretty smart and funny. Fiona Apple comes off as not so smart or witty. Didn't get to see improv stand up thing down the road because I'm not 21 and it was in a bar...and we were late for it anyway. Went to the beach but I didn't really go in the water because I saw trash floating around in it. Liked the Embassy Suites because they had Comedy Central (Jon Stewart and Stephen Colbert goodness!). That's pretty much it.

Pictures will be posted eventually. Along with prom pictures and graduation ones. I just need to get them from my mother because my camera is a piece of crap and I don't use it much anymore.

And how have you been?

A friend of mine worked for a few summers during college at Disney World in Florida. You should check out their college program for next summer.

I DO NOT APPROVE! Tinkerbell may NOT be played by an actual person, EVER.
*grumble*

That is SO SWEET!!! I'm really touched! We didn't get in until after midnight.

I'm definitely up for hanging. Tomorrow I have to get the car from Cheltenham with the Mum but after that I'm probably free. The rest of my weekend is pretty booked and then the work starts. If I don't call you, feel free to try me. Hee, that rhymes.

I remember you! I did see your icon and am in loff. *hearts Eddie* I like Eddie muchly and have had a crush on him since my brother sat me down to watch "Dress to Kill" years ago. Since then I've forced friends to watch him and they have, in turn, become fanboys and fangirls.
