Yesterday involved exploring parts of Brooklyn to find this store Beacon's Closet that's like an upscale thrift/vintage store. It was very nice but my concience wouldn't let me purchase an Indie shirt that looked okay but wasn't perfect. Instead I ended up spending my money in China Town, our next stop. We went to eat first, which was more expensive than we thought it would be but not too bad. After that it was time to hit the shops.
Most of the stores in China Town are the same exact store with subtle differences. This makes finding the thing you actually want difficult. I was looking for lights (christmas lights or something) to hang on my wall. I ended up finding them in the second to last store we checked out. They are now hanging up and looking pretty. Other than that my walls still remind me of a mental institution-- they're too white and get even worse when I turn on the main light. I want my room to feel warm and homey. I don't know how to achieve this but I'm hoping that the upcoming poster sale helps me out. But wasn't I talking about China Town? Yes. China Town. We found an anime shop that I'm so taking
sneeze042 to if she ever visits. They have posters of all different anime movies/mangas for TWO DOLLARS! And behind the counter there are tons of mangas and DVDs. It was awesome.
Speaking of anime, later that night I ended up in Laura's dorm watching Totoro and Spirited Away. I really, really liked Spirited Away. I want to see more stuff like that. Maybe even read some of Laura's manga collection. But after the movies finished I stayed and talked with Laura, Morgan, the girl who owned the DVDs, and her roommate Max. Both of them are awesome! I stayed there until almost 3 AM just talking and joking around...good times.
So stuff is going well here. With classes starting tomorrow that may change but I'm hoping it won't be too overwhelming. And Bri is visiting on Tuesday (or so he said) so that gives me something to look forward to.
Classes tomorrow: 3D, English
