I got home last night. For some reason the time changes don't register in my head so I didn't realize that though I left Dublin around 2:00 PM I was going to arrive in the US three hours later but really have been in the plane for about six or seven hours. I know how it works but it does make my brain hurt thinking about it in detail. Anyway, the plane was old and slow and rather lame because I couldn't even see the screen to watch the movie, which incidentally was Spiderman 3. Yeah. And the airline workers were bitter because the strike they were going to have the next day was canceled. So bitchy flight attendants plus a long flight equals very frustrating for the people who just want to get to DC without spending a lot of money.
Once we landed we went through customs and the agent couldn't believe that I'd been traveling alone. He called me, and this is a direct quote, a "tough kid". Then it took forever to get bags. But I eventually got to the arrivals gate, saw my parents and brother Jeff waiting for me and we went to get some sushi. It was very, very good. I hadn't had sushi since London (and not much there because it's kind of expensive).
The trip was really good. I kind of wish I'd gone with someone but it's nice to do whatever you want and not have to clear it with someone first. I did get lonely sometimes but I also met some really cool people. It balanced out. Mostly it was fantastic. The weather, well, it could have been better in some places but that also goes for the US right now. Seriously, did DC not get the memo that I wanted sunshine when I landed?? And Pennsylvania! How DARE you rain! I wanted nice warm and sunny days! After almost two weeks of cloudy skies and wearing sweaters I think I deserve some sun and blue skies. Stupid weather patterns not bending to my desires.
Longer updates later. With pictures. Oh, I took so many pictures. Filled up a 2G memory card with 'em. Would have started on the 1G card but I didn't bring it with me when I filled the other card. Alas!
So now I should probably go through some stuff I never really unpacked from school and see what I need and what I don't need. Yup. Sounds good.
I just wanna thank
meabo and
queenfionnuala for chilling with me in Ireland (and in Fion's case, Scotland as well). I had a fantastic time with you guys! Meg, thanks for letting me crash on your couch and tag along with you to the beach. Being fucking freezing was worth it to be able to say I went into the water. Fion, thanks for making my last night in Ireland amazing! I loved the music and even didn't mind when you pulled me up to dance, though I sucked ass. Next time I'll have you teach me the steps beforehand so I look like less of an idiot when attempting to dance. :-) Wouldn't have had nearly as much fun if it wasn't for you two! *hugs*
