Yup, I watched it like a good little voter. I'll admit that sometimes I tuned out because it was super boring. Anyway, here are some thoughts in list-ish form:

-McCain said that he was "no Miss Congeniality" twice. Of course he isn't!!! He's a DUDE!
-Obama interrupted McCain a bit too often. Not a good idea.
-As I told Jeff, McCain was a condescending douche to Obama with this "Oh, he's so naive! I am SO OLD and know EVERYTHING about THE WORLD"
-Tea is an underrated foil for diplomacy! Scones seal the deal!
-OMG DIPLOMACY SLEEPOVER!!! Oh would I love to be a fly on that wall when they start up playing 'Never Have I Ever'!
-Best.Idea.Ever, guys: BEER DIPLOMACY!

Wasn't impressed overall. I don't think either answered questions particularly clearly and there was a lot of waffling. Mom thinks McCain came off as more of a waffler. I think both came off as childish at times. Of course, these debates tend to be like that so I don't know why I was expecting more. Maybe it's because both candidates are supposed to be really good at debating (yes, I'm avoiding the "master debater" joke). So yeah, I'm hoping it gets better.

Thoughts?

I...don't watch debates for just this reason.

They really don't flush out anything about the candidates in my opinion.

I keep on hoping that they'll shed some light on what their administration would be like.

I guess I'm less optimistic about it than you.

I spent last night reading blogs and Twitter updates about it rather than watching the actual debate.

It was more fun and entertaining.

I don't know if I'm an optimist or just hoping that Obama would be one of those candidates who didn't get completely sucked into the usual election stuff. *shrug*

I was watching Wonkette's liveblog whilst watching TV and texting my brother with random comments about the debate (a few of those thoughts come from said texts). That part was very fun. :-)

I'd vote Saxon. Why choose the lesser of two evils? XD

He also looks better in a suit.

I'm having a hard time with this election. I think I know who I'm going to vote for and then something happens that makes me reconsider. I usually vote for my party as a Democrat but I'm not really comfortable with Obama's lack of experience and people he's associated with in the past. I think he's going to find the presidency more difficult than he thinks it's going to be, especially when it comes to dealing with foreign relations.

Meh, the whole lack of experience thing is something McCain has been harping on and I don't think it's as big a deal as people make it out to be. Clinton said himself when he was campaigning (the first time) that experience wasn't everything and he was probably one of our best presidents. Also, the experience thing is where Biden comes in. He's got the foreign relation knowledge and can help Obama in that respect. In fact, that's probably why Obama picked Biden.

When it comes to past associates, McCain hasn't always associated with wonderful people either. Unless those associates are going to try influencing the president, and the president lets them (kind of like Cheney with the oil companies), then I don't see how those relationships will affect anything important. Those are just my thoughts. I can see why those issues can make people nervous, though. I guess when it comes to voting, ask yourself, despite those misgivings, do you believe that candidate will make good, educated decisions with which you would agree.
